hi there,
welcome to my gallery, pictures on this site at the moment are a result of research of a railway goods yard in Edge hill, Liverpool now closed, I am constructing a 4mm scale model railway replica of this area as it was in the 1950s/60s when it was still a busy railway goods yard.
i have taken some pictures myself but most are scans of books, magazines and newspaper articles,
many thanks to people who have let me use there pictures and info.
i have tried to ask as many people as i can for permission to use there pictures but some i have not been able to as they have been picked up at different places over the years, if any of the pictures are property of anyone else and want them removed let me know and i will remove them right away,
this is just a place to store my collection and for other people to enjoy i am in no way trying to make money on these. |

The pics here are of the goods yard at crown street liverpool, and the famous cutting leading in to the yard, it is a very historic area, it is the site of the original Liverpool terminus on the liverpool to manchester railway, the first city to city railway in the world opening in 1830, although the station was proved to small and too far from the city centre, so not long after Liverpool lime street was built and crown street was then converted for use as a goods yard finally closing in 1972.
The period of the model railway i am constructing is late 1950s early 1960s when the yard and the line down to park lane goods was still busy and it was the transition era on british railways from steam to diesel, also a time when thousand of miles of railway lines in britain were closing.

| i am interested in local history particularly old railway lines, i never got to see them when they where there so im constructing a model to show what they where like, im a member of the liverpool model railway society and ths is where myself and friend chris are constructing the layout. anyone who remembers or knows anything about the area please get in touch.
